The Ravoux family's Domaine des Arches is located in Mirabel-aux-Baronnies in the Drôme Provençale, in the heart of the region where one of the best olive oils in France is produced.
For 6 generations, the Ravoux family has cultivated 26 hectares of land overlooking Mont Ventoux and the Baronnies mountains.
Chloé, Alain and Rodolphe cultivate half of this area with vines and the other half with olive trees, fruit and vegetables.
They work with traditional and environmentally friendly cultivation methods. For example, pests are controlled with the help of beneficial insects, or nets are stretched over fruit trees to protect them from pests.
In the northern Provence around Nyons, there is a special microclimate that allows the cultivation of the Tanche olive tree. These trees, which produce small black olives, need winter frost, but tolerate little humidity and hardly any wind. Such conditions can only be found in the northern Provence around Nyons, between Mont Ventoux and the southern foothills of the Alps.
The oil obtained from these special olives is one of the best olive oils in France. It was therefore the first product in France to receive the geographical designation of origin (AOP). Previously, this label was only used for top French wines.
The wine and olive oil of Domaine des Arches have regularly won awards in recent years.
Their olive oil AOP Nyons has received the gold medal several times at the renowned international agricultural fair in Paris. The quantities are always very limited and therefore very exclusive.
The estate’s wines are also recommended in various wine guides (Hachette, Gilbert et Gaillard, Bettane, Desseauve).
