Red wine "La Foudonne", 2017, Domaine des Hauts Traversiers (organic & AOP Ventoux)

incl. VAT plus shipping costs

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

A complex red wine that can compete with the best in the region. Harmonious and dry, smelling of thyme and liquorice with a slightly woody yet fresh aroma.

"La Foudonne", the name of this deep red wine, is that of the old family farm of the Morel winegrowers. Since the vineyard's cultivation area is quite small, it is only produced in small quantities and is a real insider tip.

Another plus is that the Domaine des Haut Traversiers has been farming exclusively organically for many years.

GRAPE VARIETIES & PRODUCTION

Matured for 12 months in barrique barrels.

Consisting of the classic grape varieties of the Ventoux region: 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah.

Produced in organic farming and with AOP Ventoux geographical designation of origin.

TIP

Enjoy at 18° - 20°.

A well-rounded wine that goes very well with dishes with game and red meat.

CULTIVATION & WINEMAKER

Didier and his son Florian cultivate regional grape varieties on 9 hectares of organic land. The vines grow in the southern Rhône Valley, on loamy, sandy soil around the village of Pernes les Fontaines.

Their wines also bear the protected designation of origin AOP Ventoux (Appellation d'Origine Protégée).

organic winery Domaine les Hauts Traversiers

Didier and his son Florian grow typical grape varieties of the Ventoux region on 9 hectares of their organic winery Domaine des Hauts Traversiers, with a view of the Vaucluse and Luberon mountains.

Organic & Geographically Protected Origin (AOC)

The winery has been 100% organic since 2010. Their wines are also AOC Ventoux certified. This international label guarantees the origin and protects traditional production methods and grape varieties.

cultivation, assemblage and distribution

The grapes of the Domaine des Hauts Traversiers grow in the fields around Pernes les Fontaines on sandy and loamy soil. All wines are AOC and organic certified and must meet strict quality standards. For example, the grapes are harvested manually.

Unlike many winemakers today, Didier and Florian don't just work on marketing the wine, but also really work in the vineyards. They have the knowledge and therefore also look after the vineyards of some other wineries.

wine insider tip

In order to develop their wine and create complex taste experiences, father and son have been working with an oenologist for several years. They create white wine from the regional grape varieties Roussane, Viognier and Grenache blanc. Red wine from the classic Grenache and Syrah grapes.

Depending on the wine, it is stored in barrique and/or stainless steel barrels in the winery itself.

The wines from the winery are a real insider tip. In terms of taste, they can compete with very renowned, expensive wines. Due to the small growing area, only small quantities are produced and are mainly sold in delicatessens in France and in restaurants in the region.
